What we're exploring with our partners.
Understanding your funnel, end-to-end
Publishers have made great headway in building their audiences and developing incentives for readers to subscribe. Now that subscription and membership products exist, Chartbeat wants to partner with you to help them grow.
We understand that your content resonates uniquely with your readership — and want to help you identify, develop and improve business metrics tailored to the important things: your content, your success, and how the two connect.
Measuring an effective subscription offer
Trials. Reduced prices. Special packages. The beat goes on. Subscription incentives and offers are diverse, and it can be hard to assess the long-term customer value of a specific initiative.
We want to help you determine which subscription offers are effective, and why — is it the rate? Reader engagement with your content? Or something else? Let’s figure it out together.
Identifying new audience products
Once you’ve established brand loyalty, what happens next? Audiences demand flexibility in offers, platforms, and experiences. We think we can help you proactively market these opportunities and diversify your product offerings.
Information, publisher criteria, FAQ, and more.
We expect the first phase of this program to last roughly 3-4 months, starting in April 2019. During that time, our team will work closely with an initial cohort of 5 publishers located in the New York City area, where we’re headquartered.
If you're located outside NYC, you can still benefit from the program: our team will send out research surveys so that your team can provide feedback and participate in the overall conversation.
Additionally, for publishers outside New York who are unable to participate in surveys, we’ll be sharing findings and other pieces of interest from our research via the blog.
To participate in the program cohort, you must meet the following criteria:
Located in the NYC metro area, and committed to biweekly onsite visits and interdepartmental feedback
Existing system for user management for registrations or subscriptions (site or app)
At least one digital subscription offering, or launching a digital subscription offering this year
Focus on subscription initiatives spanning more than one department in your organization
Dedicated Chartbeat team working on a product that directly addresses blind spots in subscription efforts
A finer-grained understanding of your own audience behaviors
Membership in a select cohort and its collective mindshare
Monthly meetups to discuss and review progress, and share ideas and learnings
First to trial a cohesive analytics view that connects marketing efforts to visitors to readers to subscribers
Thought-leadership opportunities to contribute to Chartbeat’s whitepapers, blog, and other channels
Speakership and presentation opportunities at industry conferences

Program terms, research process, and more.
We’re not headquartered in New York. Can we still apply?
Yes. You won’t be an official part of the cohort, which requires working onsite with our team in New York, but you can provide feedback and information about your subscription strategy to our team, and will receive updates on subscriptions research and findings.
Does the accelerator distinguish between subscription models? We have a membership structure, not a paywall.
We’re interested in hearing from publishers using different reader-revenue models, and encourage you to apply.
What will your team be doing during onsite visits?
Conducting research — shadowing teams to understand their workflows and pain points, interviewing participants to dig deeper into specific hypotheses for solutions, etc.
If I’m receiving updates about the Accelerator but can’t participate, what can I expect to receive?
Our team will be sharing findings, analyzing trends, and more.
Are you going to share publisher data from those participating?
Absolutely not. We take the data privacy of our customers and partners very seriously, and will not share your data within the cohort or externally.
What happens after Phase 1?
It depends on what we discover. We’ll keep you posted.
